Spring is a time of renewal – a perfect moment to refresh our habits and refocus on our well-being. As the days grow longer and energy levels start to shift, now is the ideal opportunity to take stock of your sugar habits and make positive changes that support your health and vitality.
On Tuesday, 29th April, I’m hosting a Kitchen Table Talk, where we’ll explore how small, sustainable shifts can help you balance blood sugar, manage cravings, and feel more in control of your energy. This is a space for a bit of education, open conversation, connection, and practical strategies to support your well-being.
Reflect & Reset
Start by reflecting on where things may have gone astray. Have you found yourself reaching for more sweet treats, processed foods, or quick energy fixes? No guilt – just awareness. Acknowledging these habits is the first step toward lasting change.
Simple Steps for Lasting Change
Instead of overwhelming yourself, focus on one small change at a time. For example:
• Rather than saying, “I need to drink more water,” commit to “I will have a glass of water before every meal.”
• If you tend to snack on autopilot, move treats out of sight and replace them with a healthier option.
• Keep a simple food diary for a few days to identify hidden sugars in your diet and spot easy swaps.
Understanding Your Sugar Habits
• What are you reaching for? Sweets, crisps, pasta, fizzy drinks? Awareness is key.
• What’s driving your habits? Stress, routine, emotional triggers? Journaling your thoughts can offer clarity.
• Timing matters. Having a sweet treat with a protein-rich meal leads to less of a blood sugar spike than eating it alone in the afternoon.
Creating Balance
• Balance your plate—Include protein, fibre, and healthy fats to stabilise blood sugar and curb cravings.
• Prioritise sleep & stress management—Poor sleep can increase sugar cravings, so create a calming bedtime routine.
• Move your body – Even a 10-minute walk after meals can improve blood sugar regulation.
The Power of Community
Making changes is easier when you’re not doing it alone. That’s why I created Kitchen Table Talks – a place where we can come together each month online to talk, learn, and support one another on this journey.
Join me on Tuesday, 29th April at 8pm for our Kitchen Table Talk and take the first step towards resetting your sugar habits with the power of community.
