This is a wonderful healthy protein snack that is such an improvement on shop bought hummus both in taste and content. It takes about 10 minutes to make and lasts 3-4 days in the fridge. Did you know that protein keeps you fuller for longer and you are less likely to snack? Try it and let me know how you get on.

Ingredients

380g carton or 400g tin or chickpeas
90g or 2 dessertspoons tahini
2/3 tablespoons Olive oil
2 cloves garlic – crushed
Juice of one lemon
1 teaspoon Cumin powder
Salt to taste half to 1 teaspoon
Freshly ground black pepper to taste

Drain chick peas and put liquid to one side
Put all ingredients in food processor and mix until smooth paste, use liquid from chickpeas to get the consistency you require. I suggest you make it slightly smoother than you think as is thickens in the first few hours after making.
I usually use about half of the liquid.
If you want a change you can add half a teaspoon of turmeric, half a roasted pepper (preferably with skin removed) or a small/medium sized roasted beetroot.
