“We don’t meditate to get good at meditation. We meditate to get good at life”
Emily Fletcher – Ziva Meditation
Listening to Emily Fletcher made me want to share more about why mediation is so valuable to us all.
The thing about meditation is that it’s truly important to find the style that is right for you. You can meditate sitting in silence with crossed legs but that may not be your style. Many people say they can’t meditate because they cannot calm their mind, I was one of those but now I love meditating. It gives me inspiration and creativity that I never thought possible. It gives me a level of calm that is truly exhilarating and it has helped me to love myself.
People say they’re too busy to meditate. So how is it that those people at the top of their game running multiple successful businesses nearly all meditate. Even Oprah meditates. Why? Because it helps you to perform at the top of your game.
So why is meditation so good for us. It helps us to be more productive, creative, innovative, intuitive and kind because the less stressed we are the more we are able to perform at the top of our game.
It gives you better access to solutions, makes you more intuitive and creative.
Why? Because you access more areas of your brain.
When you meditate you strengthen the corpus callosum which connects the left and right sides of the brain and this gets thicker the more you meditate. This helps you access different states of consciousness and obtain rest that is deeper than sleep. When this happens you flood the brain with the feel good hormones dopamine and serotonin which makes you feel amazing and who wouldn’t want that.
It’s about enjoying the moment and coming away feeling happier, stronger and more able to deal with what life throws at you.
When you meditate – the more love you give the more you receive, the more generous you are the more you receive, the more you give the more you get back. Increasing your ability to handle demands.
Be the most amazing version of yourself. Start meditating.
I suggest starting with 15 minutes a day of guided meditation, that’s something off YouTube like The Mindful Movement which is what I listen to. Whatever you do don’t listen to a voice that irritates find one that you enjoy! Beyond that I can’t tell you how you will find your own way.
Try before you get out of bed in the morning and you will notice the difference in your day. If not then try before you go to sleep at night, you will probably go to sleep but that’s not a problem.
Don’t expect miracles immediately. You will notice a difference but once you’ve been meditating for 30 days consistently you will truly see a change. Stick at it for rewards you won’t believe.
Good luck and enjoy. Be the most amazing version of yourself.
