OK – so it’s November – it’s suddenly super cold where I am, from 17°C last week to -1°C this, and all my body wants to do is slow down and curl up warm.

As the days get shorter and the nights draw in, it’s our natural instinct to hibernate.  Our biology is responding to the lack of daylight and the drop in temperature.  Our bodies are telling us to slow down.  So how do we respond, because modern day life doesn’t really allow us to hibernate.

We push on, and in doing so, many of us disconnect – from hunger cues, from tiredness, and from our emotions.

It’s a moment when we turn to food, and very often that’s the sweet stuff and the comfort of carbs, and slowly and quietly, insulin rises (remember that from last month?).  That makes us more tired, more emotional, and even more likely to reach for those sweet treats or the piece of toast.  Sound familiar.

You start to feel like you have to refuel, like your tank is empty, and when that’s happening your body shifts into fight or flight, cortisol starts running the show, and insulin rises even more.  So even if you’re eating regularly, you still feel like you need more.

The clients I see have pushed through this, over and over, and over again, and finally they come to a point when their body says “NO”.  Know the feeling?

I’d really like to help you not to get to that point, to take a different route, by understand what your body needs when you feel like this and helping it to thrive rather than survive.

Take a moment to pause and ask yourself a question.

“What do I actually need right now?”

Rest?
Protein?

Warm and nourishing food?
Fresh air?
Social Connection?
A moment to breathe?
Support from someone close?

And when you start listening to what your body actually needs, what it’s crying out for – insulin calms down.

Your Energy becomes steadier.
Your mind becomes clearer.
Your cravings lessen

And
You start to reconnect with your own needs.

And in doing so you stop eating on autopilot…
because you’ve reconnected to you.

Honestly, listen up, you could be saving yourself from an unhealthy future by doing so – I promise.

However, if you think you need some help to do this, then please do ask, that’s what I’m here for, I listen and I give you simple ideas to help you to shift away from this life of overdrive and permanent acceleration, to a life where you get more done because you’re more in tune with yourself.  Don’t wait until the doctor tells you you need medication, take notice NOW.

Why do I say this? Because I was the one that didn’t listen, and the road to recovery is long and slow when you get to the point where your body can’t go on, believe me, I know.  It’s 15 years now, since that time in my life, and my body is in good shape, however, I know that if I don’t listen, I could very easily go down the wrong road again.

Much love and take care

You know where I am
